You Got Fooled by Sharadha!
April Fools!
Okay, okay. The Star of Mysore article was a prank. There was no reporter named K.S. Nandini,
no cover story, and no feature writer chasing anyone around Mysuru with a notebook.
But here's what isn't a prank: five little boys who met at CFTRI school in 1970 and decided,
without ever saying it out loud, that they would stay in each other's lives forever.
And then actually did it. For fifty-five years. Through every city, every career change,
every late-night phone call, every meetup, every surprise birthday, every single time
life got hard and somebody needed to show up.
That kind of friendship doesn't just happen. It's built, year after year, by people who
keep choosing each other. And the five of you have done it more beautifully than most
people ever will.
We've watched it up close. We've seen what it means to have friends who don't just
stay in touch but stay in each other's lives, fully and completely. The way you
show up for each other, the way your families became one big family, the way your
children grew up with five fathers instead of one. That's something rare and
something worth celebrating.
Happy 60th to every one of you. To many, many more years of laughing
until it hurts, showing up without being asked, and never, ever letting go.
With all our love,
Sharadha, Vijay, Vishal, Rahul & Coline
Cheers to the Magnificent Sixty!
